Aloha! Here’s what you need to know about me: I’m Rebecca Montalbano – wife to a wonderful, talented husband and mom of four incredible individuals – currently ages 21, 20, 17, and 15. We’re living in Hawaii, and we miss home, family, and friends back in Alabama! Living here is very expensive for a family of six, so I’ve learned even more about frugal living than I ever knew before. I’ll be sharing strategies for managing home, family, and finances. I will also recount parts of my journey as a mom – the good, the bad, and the ugly.
The Challenge for Moms
Changing diapers, doing laundry, buying groceries, making dinners, keeping the house clean, and driving carpool – sometimes you feel like a fiery ball of pure chaos! There are so many responsibilities, and there’s never quite enough time to finish the work and enjoy that sense of accomplishment. Unlike a career outside the home, there are no paychecks, no bonuses, and no awards for this parenting work. So, I want to encourage you along your journey.
How can you find ways to manage your time, your home, and your work better? Can you just enjoy snuggling your children while they’re little? Is it possible to have time to yourself?
I’ve been there, and I have struggled. I remember sitting in the middle of the floor with a toddler and a baby crawling around me while I cried with frustration and hopelessness, because I was sure I wasn’t a good mom. I had never even been a babysitter before I had my first child, and I had much to learn.
That’s why I’m writing this blog!
I want to provide you with tips and tricks it took me YEARS to learn, so I can make things easier for you and better for your entire family. I want you to be confident in your abilities and to have JOY in your journey!
This blog is NOT about:
A vegan lifestyle.
Eliminating all sugar and snacks.
This blog IS about being REAL:
- Enjoying fruits and vegetables (preferably locally grown), meats, and dairy!
- Getting good, healthy food as inexpensively as possible, and cooking at home.
- Doing things yourself.
- Saving money on things that don’t matter, so you can spend money on things that matter MOST.
- Keeping a wonderful HOME, not a cluttered, dirty house.
- Moving and getting FIT!
- Making memories with your family!
I’m glad you’re here.
